Caldecott Medal-winning author and illustrator Michaela Goade reflects on the ways that her family and community supported her explorations of artwork as a child and how she was drawn to the same themes that inspire her today. Ms. Goade is an enrolled member of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
