Blending Syllables to Make a Word

Arta Quam | Wichita Public Schools | Wichita, KS
Introduction by Traci Holder, Master of Education (M.Ed.)

In this activity, the teacher and students practice putting syllables together to make a word. The teacher says two syllables of a word one at a time, and uses her fists to represent each syllable. The students repeat the syllables and the hand movements, then put their fists together and say the whole word.
