Autistic girls are often expert as camouflaging or masking their challenges, especially before they are diagnosed or "identified." Author and Autism Advocate Jennifer Cook says that once diagnosed, it can be a beautiful thing when family and friends welcome and celebrate you for all your differences, allowing your authentic self to surface, instead of saying, "for your own good, you must change ..."
