QAR: Enhancing Comprehension and Test Taking Across Grades and Content Areas

Publication date:

The authors describe how Question Answer Relationships (QAR) can provide a framework for instruction with the potential of closing the achievement gap. The of QAR — In the Book, In My Head, Right There, Think & Search, Author & Me, and On My Own — gives teachers and students a language for talking about the largely invisible processes that constitute listening and across grades and subject areas. Students recognize that they must first consider the question before developing an answer.
