Target the Problem is an interactive online tool from Reading Rockets designed to help parents and classroom teachers understand the specific problems a child may be having with reading. Parents can find practical suggestions on what they (and the kids themselves) can do to help overcome or deal with their reading difficulties.

Put Downs and Comebacks

Put Downs and Comebacks is an online tool from Reading Rockets to help a parent respond to some of the negative feelings their child might express about their struggles. It’s easy to get discouraged when you’re struggling with reading, for example. This tool can help parents discover a child’s “put downs” may mean and what “comebacks” you can say or do to encourage a child to keep trying.

Rick Lavoie

Rick Lavoie (opens in a new window) is one of the strongest voices for children with LD. A popular author and speaker about learning disabilities, Lavoie helps parents learn how to advocate for and support their children with LD. Rick is probably best known for his videos How Difficult Can This Be: The F.A.T. City Workshop, Last One Picked, First One Picked On: The Social Implications of Learning Disabilities, and When the Chips are Down.
